Wii Sports Club for the Wii U is the best golf game of this console generation

Over the last couple of console generations, Nintendo has been focused on how we interact with our video games. The Wii finally introduced us to a viable motion control system that, when leveraged properly, created fun and intuitive gameplay experiences. The Wii’s successor, the Wii U, retained those same motion controls, but added a second screen experience via the Wii U GamePad, allowing us to move game elements to the GamePad’s touch screen while also offering asymmetrical gameplay# to a degree that was simply not possible on a video game console before.

But what makes the GamePad truly special are its endless gameplay configurations. And this unique flexibility is best demonstrated in Wii Sports Club – Golf, which has players placing the GamePad at their feet and using a Wii Remote as the golf club.

It’s a very simple concept, but it creates one of the most enjoyable living room golfing experiences to date.

With the GamePad at your feet, you can see the condition of the turf under the ball to help you better select your club. When you prepare your hit, simply keep your eye on the GamePad to watch your power level. This configuration allows you to use proper form by keeping your head down and focused on the ball through the moment of contact with your ball, which is not just some cool gimmick, but in fact a very helpful way to make your shots more accurate, as it’s unnatural to stare straight ahead while swinging a golf club.
